Sydney Architecture Agency
Architectural Practice
London, Australia
The case for a new Sydney-based agency, devoted solely to promoting great architecture and design in the nation’s largest city. Using the London Architecture Foundation (LAF) as the model, the author argues for a new, not-for-profit, Sydney-based agency with the sole purpose of promoting architecture and design to the wider community.
This report begins by introducing the LAF, its structure, function and successes. The second part sets up the case for the establishment of a similar Sydney-based organisation. It identifies existing organisations in support of Sydney architecture and identifies opportunities for a Sydney Architecture Agency to be active. The author argues that the results would be more opportunities for emerging practices, better architectural outcomes and more public critical engagement with architecture.
