Spatial Experience, Narrative and Architecture
Architectural Practice
London, Venice, Europe
This project explores the relationship between the two disciplines of film and architecture, the various ways they intersect, and the various practitioners who work in this discipline.
The aim of the research is to explore how the link between architectural space and film space might inform the expanded conception and practice of architecture. It offers a consideration of how film as an art form can aid thinking through the experience of narrative in the city and temporal events.
The author visited the 12th International Architecture Exhibition, Venice 2010 and provides a number of specific exhibit case studies. The outcomes of a series of interviews conducted with architectural/academic professionals from London; Liam Young and Christophe Gérard and Berlin; Stefanie Bürkle are also included.
