Making Transformations: Place and the Pacific tide

Canada

A reflection on time spent studying Architecture on exchange at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada.

The focus of analysis is architectural vernaculars along the Pacific Rim, specifically Vancouver, explored through the notion of place, space, and context. That is, what do each of these things mean, and how they are important in formulating meaningful places within the built environment. The author explores these questions through the re-design of BC Canada Place a temporary installation sited in Turino Italy, during the Winter Olympics of 2006.
