Construction & Materiality
This report explores concrete as a building material through the lens of a number of categories including weathering, sculptural qualities, structure and materiality.
The report discusses these themes by drawing on the examples of a number of concrete buildings including Le Corbusier’s Notre Dame du Haut at Ronchamp, Alvaro Siza’s Portuguese Pavilion in Lisbon, Eero Saarinen’s Trans World Airlines (TWA) Terminal in New York and Oscar Niemeyer’s Brazilian Congress in Brasilia.
